About two months ago the owners of the local daily newspaper in New Orleans, the Times-Picayune announced they would stop publishing daily and go to three days a week. With change comes opportunity and this morning in the Wall Street Journal it was announced that:
“National Public Radio, the University of New Orleans, and a group of business and community leaders will announce Friday the creation of a nonprofit newsroom to compete against the city’s for-profit newspaper, the Times-Picayune.”
Announcement from the Wall Street Journal, here. You have to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal on line to read the entire article or you can wait until later when the announcement is made. I wonder if the Times-Picayune will report on this story!
