The Times Picayune is the local newspaper in the New Orleans area. When I first came to New Orleans this was published daily and many people would have home delivery. Middle of 2012 the Times Picayune became a three day per week newspaper.
I was not a subscriber mostly because I read my news online now and truly the news moves faster than a print edition can keep up with. So why do I receive a newspaper every Wednesday thrown from a car to somewhere on my property?
I don’t subscribe to the Times Picayune because I don’t want to however they deliver a paper to me each Wednesday in the hopes that it will entice me to. The problem is how do you stop a delivery you haven’t signed up for? You can’t. This is like putting an invitation in front of the criminals that someone isn’t home.
I used to call the distribution department on a regular basis to try and get them to stop these unrequested deliveries but to no avail. Finally after almost two years I commented about this situation on a article online on the Times Picayune site which got the attention of the gentlemen who handles this and for a while these deliveries stopped. This gentlemen told me to call him if I ever had another problem…..this past week I called the Times Picayune because I am once again receiving deliveries I have not requested.
The powers that be at the Times Picayune are a secret. It is not possible to find their names on the website, it is not possible to find phone numbers or email addresses except for general email boxes or central phone numbers. The staff will not put calls through they all think they can resolve issues completely ignoring their consumers requests.
I do not want the Times Picayune delivered to my house each Wednesday. I will have to contact the Newhouse Organization rather the local staff to lodge this complaint and try to get this to stop.
