Algiers Point is in an area a ferry ride across the Mississippi River that is the West Bank of Orleans Parish, in a Historic District and very much like a small village.
There is an Algiers Neighborhood Association that provides walking tours of the historic homes within Algiers Point and on their website you can see the rich history of the area.
Local bars and musicians provide the entertainment. Three miles along the Mississippi River levee offer walking tours, a place to walk your dog and beautiful views of downtown New Orleans.
I have sold a piece of land and a historic home this year in Algiers Point. The home was a short sale that took 2 and a half months to get an approval from the bank for.
So what is going on with the housing market? For single family homes:
Algiers Point is a nice alternative to the hustle and bustle of life on the other side of the river in Uptown, Carrolton or the Garden District where prices may have become prohibitive for some buyers.
