When you are ready or decide to work with a real estate agent it can take at least one visit to view properties for the agent to have an idea of what you are looking for. It is a process and every buyer is different. It isn’t always easy buying real estate and it is not always easy being a real estate agent. If you were the buyer in the following situation how would you react?
You call an agent you have not been working with. You are interested in seeing one property in particular. The agent in the initial phone call says to you that in the remarks for the property that the owner will be reviewing offers at 6pm the following day just to inform you and you will be viewing the property at 4pm the next day…your reaction is:
a. the agent is really pushy mentioning this to you;
b. the agent is making a lot of inappropriate assumptions that you might like the property or that you might be ready to put in an offer;
c. you think that the agent did the right thing by letting you know because in case you like the property you would need to move on it and you like being informed.
The agent has no way to know how any buyer would react. I have had buyer’s react both ways. As an agent I felt that I should inform the buyer because if they go to see the house at 4pm and are unaware that offers would be reviewed by the seller at 6pm that buyer might not be ready and not have had a chance to process this…
What would you want an agent to do? Inform you or not inform you?
