It is very cold in New Orleans for New Orleans with temperatures going down into the lower 20’s tonight. The thing is that many houses are raised here and the pipes are all underneath the houses and exposed. So, what to do. Well dripping water in the sinks and tubs, running the washer, running the dishwasher during the night and wrapping faucets if possible.
The hardware store sells wrapping for the pipes but I couldn’t see myself getting under the house and wrapping pipes and everyone is very busy preparing their own houses. In the local newspaper today there was an article about the cold weather and a list of things to do and this was one of the things:
“Also, check your car for cats because outdoor cats sometimes sleep under the hood to stay warm. Bang loudly on the car hood before starting the engine to give the cat a chance to escape.”
