Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking the Seller Representative Specialist course taught by Adorna Carrol, who is a Broker in Connecticut and a National Speaker and Consultant. This course was excellent and although I have been licensed in Real Estate for the past 26 years there is always something new to learn. After I completed this course I filled out an application and submitted it to obtain the SRS Designation and now I am approved to use SRS after my name, on my marketing and in my email signature.

It is generally believed that the public doesn’t know what these designations are or mean and probably don’t care. What they mean to me is that I have taken additional Courses aside from the licensing exams to learn and keep abreast of this very dynamic industry.
For instance the CRS means Certified Residential Specialist which is a designation that less than 5% of agents across the country have obtained. SRES, Senior Real Estate Specialist is a course about handling boomers and the difficulties with selling a home where family was raised and dealing with aging, GRI is the Graduate, Realtor Institute which is pretty intense, ABR is the Accredited Buyer’s Specialist course where we learned how to handle buyer contracts and issues.
