Zillow is a real estate web site that enjoys really tremendous name recognition, buyers have heard of this site and so they go and search for homes; sellers go and punch in their address and get what they believe to be a value of their home…but is the site accurate and should consumers use the site?
For sellers their values are for the most part way off at least in Louisiana. On the Zillow website at the bottom of their home page is a link to “About Zestimates” and they themselves post the accuracy of their home values and these values vary area to area. In Louisiana they state they are not able to provide any accuracy and we are rated a one Star for accuracy, please go to Louisiana on this page and then to New Orleans, here. (click on States/Counties).
As a home buyer if you base your home search on these zestimates you will also get hurt because there is such tremendous inaccuracy….if you base your offers on these estimates you will also find your bids to be way off.
The best way to avoid all of these inaccuracies is simply not to use this site. There are many websites that provide good and accurate information including the site you are reading this on……
You see the site is not better just more clever in gaining google rank.
